1 cup vegetable shortening minus a spoonful
3/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 350f. Use parchment paper on a cookie sheet, or spray cookie sheet with baking spray.
Cream shortening an sugars together. When fluffy, add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and mix well.
In separate bowl stir flour, salt, and baking soda. Spoon into wet mixture mixing a bit at a time.
Add chocolate chips and nuts and stir until well mixed.
Spoon onto prepared cookie sheet and bake 10-12 minutes in preheated oven, or until cookies begin to brown. Do not over bake as cookies will continue to bake after you remove them from the oven.

These were a favorite for Devon and Sarah, and the neighborhood kids after a long day at school!

Enjoy with tea, coffee or milk.
