Date Nut Bread

Servings: 2 loaves

Ingredients

2 eggs

4 Tbsp shortening

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups pitted dates

2 cups hot water

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp baking soda

3 cups flour

1 cup nuts

 

Directions

Cut dates in quarters, pour boiling water over then and set aside. Cream sugar, shortening, and eggs. Sift salt, soda, and flour. Add date mix to creamed mix. Add dry ingredients. Add nuts and mix well. Turn into greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 40-50 minutes.
